It’s that time of year for cool refreshing drinks, and one of the places I tend to go to a lot during the summer months is Tropical Smoothie Cafe. To be able to grab something that fast to eat or drink, and is good for you these days is key – but whats even better is when there is a great cause behind it.
This year Tropical Smoothie Cafe, has teamed up with Camp Sunshine, a nonprofit organization. On June 17th, National Flip Flop Day, Tropical Smoothie Cafe will be giving away free 24 oz Jetty Punch Smoothies at all 500 of its restaurants from 2 – 7 PM. All guests need to do to get a free smoothie is wear flip-flops (pretty simple right).
Tropical Smoothie Cafe will be accepting donations for Camp Sunshine, a place where children with life-threatening illnesses and their families can go to help make memories. Their goal is to raise $1 million so that more children and their families can enjoy the camp. Click on the link above to find out more about Camp Sunshine.
Please help to get the word out to all about this event and lets help make a difference for those families.
Before I was pregnant with my son, I was aware of the dangers and toxins that were around us everyday. However, I didn’t realize how many hazardous products were actually inside my home – this is the place that I considered to be a ‘safe haven’.
The video below best illustrates and explains what things you may not be aware of, and shows you how you can help make the change for your entire family.
Also make sure to try the free Take the Toxic Test below – it’s definitely eye opening.

Yesterday was the first day of April (yay) and I myself couldn’t be happier! In my mind April always meant that it was officially spring (regardless of the exact date of spring on the calendar in March). The first sign of life coming from the ground at my house are the crocuses, and the bright hint of color from among the dreary cold ground is hope that warm weather is here to stay – something I bet anyone in the not only the Northeast is happy to hear, we’ve had a brutally LONG winter and we are over it!! I can even see the beginning buds of the daffodils and tulips not far behind, and in only a few weeks time they will be joining. The mornings are now filled with sunlight beaming into the bedroom and birds chirping (especially the robins) – a sign of awaking and rebirth.
This year is also special because I get to watch my son enjoy his first spring, so many things for him to experience at 6 months. He is so aware of his surrounds, and very much active – so this year will be especially special for me. I look forward to the green grass making its appearance soon too (regardless if my allergies may kick in) and being able to walk barefoot outside – oh so many things that spring has to offer.
I hope that you are able to enjoy the beginning of spring by you.
This is the first year we are doing the Elf on the Shelf in our household. Even though my son is nearly 3 months old, my in-laws purchased this as a new tradition for us to start in our household (wish they had this when I was a kid). We were able to come to an agreement on a name after many choices (Jangles), something that would be easy enough for young child.
Now I havent really hidden Jangles like most people do over the month of December, because honestly I don’t think my son will be looking for him so instead I have him for this year propped in my sons room watching over him and taking notes for Santa (lol).
I want to know from you (those of you who have done this before, or are doing this with your kids currently), where do you find inspiration of hiding places, or ideas/themes for your Elf on the Shelf??
I need to start getting ideas for next year (if you didn’t know by now, I like to plan ahead of time).
Like most holiday seasons, it’s always a rush once September 1st hits for a mad dash to make it to Christmas, regardless if it’s the big box stores or individuals in general. This holiday season is the time to reflect on the year that has gone by, and with that many have been joining in the #30daysofthanks challenge. Finding even the smallest of things to be thankful for each day, and being able to appreciate it. As it’s almost the end of the 30 days of thanks, with Thanksgiving right around the corner next week, I figured that as this being my first post it would be a great way to start.
Day 23: Today I am Thankful for My Family. This is my first year being a mom and sharing this experience with my husband. We have wanted children from some time and were blessed at the beginning of 2013 with the news. This year we get to share and create traditions with each other that will last a lifetime and will be the start of a growing family in years to come. I am forever grateful and blessed for my son.
what are you thankful for today??
