Little Pim – Review

unnamed

I have always been so intrigued with little children being so diverse with many languages. For years I have seen commercials on TV showcasing this and their programs (many of which are still very popular today). Well before I was pregnant I was set on introducing my child to languages at a very early age – because as its been noted, a child’s mind is like a sponge and absorbs alot of information especially very early on. So I was very excited when I was approached by Little Pim to try out one of their DVDs for Spanish (Eating & Drinking).

Little Pim was inspired by Julia Pimsleur Levine (daughter of Dr. Paul Pimsleur, who created the Pimsleur Method) and her own bilingual childhood. She wanted to give her young son the same opportunity to learn a foreign language. When she discovered that there were no high quality education materials for teaching toddlers a foreign language, she set out to create them herself. She was uniquely qualified given her background as an award-winning filmmaker, language teacher and mother.

Little Pim’s program supports foreign language learning which multiple studies have shown improves memory and analytic abilities and strengthens problem solving skills.  The program helps children acquire a new vocabulary and a near-native accent. The unique Entertainment Immersion Method® immerses children completely in a foreign language.

I have only been watching the DVD with my son for about 2 weeks, though he isn’t speaking fully yet at 5 months, he does exhibit an interest in the DVD – even getting excited with each new word/image on the screen. I am excited to be able to share in this learning experience with my son, and continue to add to his learning by purchasing the remaining DVDs not only in Spanish (which is important for my husbands background) but even Italian for my family background.

Little Pim is available in Spanish, French, Chinese, Italian, German, Japanese, Arabic, Hebrew, Russian, English and Portuguese. They offer not only DVDs but also books, CD’s and flashcards. Make sure to check out the free demos they offer online here

I strongly encourage any parent of a young child to check out Little Pim for yourself – this is a great gift to give your child and future generations.

Happy Learning!!
